Erik Ljungstrom
Born and bred in Sweden I currently reside in Reading, Berkshire, UK.
I work as a Technical Team Leader at
Dedipower Managed Hosting Ltd.
where I am tasked with a wide array of things. Apart from managing (and trying to extend) my team, I'm working with some of
the fully managed solutions belonging to our enterprise class customers. I am also known to dive in and treat tickets raised
by the large variety of customers we host.
I do daily maintenance, software installs, upgrades, patching, backups, troubleshooting, database optimisation
(not structural or schematic though), monitoring, architecture and to some extent network infrastructure. Obviously I
also respond to customers needs in terms of setup and configuration changes.
For some of the more out of the ordinary things I encounter in my work, I try to find time and energy to jot something down
about in my
blog/. I tend to forget this more often than not
however. I also try to populate the
files/ directory with snippets of code I write to make my life
easier in the hope that someone else might find them and save a minute or two.
In my spare time I tend to try and do a bit of programming for fun. I would love to be able to say that I like cooking
exotic food, travelling to all corners of the world, reading brick sized novels and National Geographic, go for
half-marathon runs etc. But that'd be lying.
I – much to my dismay – have a brief background as a professional web developer (needless to say, no design
involved). Jokes aside, that was not the career for me. While I love programming and jump for joy each time I get the
opportunity to replace myself with a bash script, working full time with it was not as rewarding for me as I'd hoped.
