These are all quite old posts, is there anything newer anywhere as the plugin is now at 1.0.8.

You also deliberately used RAMDISK to see the processing time and ignore disk seeks. With small disk storage the access to disks should go down so it may make things much better using the compressed format.

I need to do some similar benchmarking. Perhaps I'll post my results.

Hi Vasil,

Thanks for your comment!

The connect/disconnect times are not part of any of those numbers. I bumped up the number of runs, but there were still no relevant dispersion between the figures;

1K select time: 106.01854610443 seconds.
4K select time: 106.24008703232 seconds.
8K select time: 106.45072197914 seconds.
NC select time: 106.47057890892 seconds.

Hi,

1.x second seems too little. Are you also measuring the time to connect and disconnect to the server in those SELECT queries? Better to test something that takes at least 60 seconds or so.

Very interesting! I do believe you're on the right track with your theory on the select results. It make a lot of sense!
Thanks, great post!
